Lighting comes and goes, flickers, fades and glows.
Candles wax and wane; my favorite lamp, the Pencil is its name.
I don’t get too excited about the latest in lighting as I still admire the simplicity of the “windmill”. In any case, I do have the pleasure of introducing my reader to the very simple and beautiful battery charged lamps of which I use on a regular basis.
The Poldina Table Lamp which is both weatherproof and “weighty”, not weighty heavy, but rather in the sense that it has heft, body and gravitas. In other words, it looks nor feels cheap. It comes in a variety of colors, but what I like most about it is its ability to provide light on the spot, it keeps its charge through the night.
The latest addition to this family is the Pencil, and when I brought the longest version (59”) to my Friday night “Shul by the Pool” minyan, it cast its beautiful light and with its significant brightness and spread it provided plenty of light to see and read by.
